So, there I was last weekend July 29th. I was enjoying a short vacation on Captiva Island at the ‘Teen Waters Inn when my wife said, “let’s go check out the band”. “Ok, fine”, I say. “Let’s go… I’m kinda tired of sitting on the beach anyway”. To be honest, I wasn’t too optimistic about the caliber of the band or the music I was going to see. I figured I would hear a bunch of mediocre 3 chord rehashed tunes everyone is totally sick of. Please no more Johnny B. Goode, Blue Suede Shoes, Old Time Rock ‘n Roll, Stairway to Heaven... blah, blah, blah. No more of that!! Yikes!!
In time, the band climbs on stage and I see a big guy on bass, a kinda bored dude behind a drum kit, and a pierced mohawked guy with cowboy boots picking up a guitar. I think to myself that this is going to be a drag..., a three piece band? Bah, limited! Too empty during leads. Most likely some non-adventuresome music. I hope it’s not too loud.
Well, was I surprised. Taken back maybe. Man, what was that first song? That was great. Blew me away. That guitar player has got some smoking chops. Yeah, he’s been playing for a while. He’s definitely at the top of his game. No rust spots here. In control the whole time. What the heck is this band doing at the little ‘Teen Waters? How lucky for me to catch this act! Where is everyone! Great selection of music performed by a very talented band.
John, thanks for a wonderful night. I was blown away by your style and ability. I would love to see more. I’m in West Palm Beach. I’ll check the web site to see if you ever come over this way.
Again, fine job. Keep up the good work.

Arty Z

Hay Johnny!!! About the only thing we miss about SW Florida is being able to go out and dance a bit to Barefoot Mary!! Kentucky life is great and we can't imagine being anywhere else, but damn, there isn't anywhere to go and kick up our heels!! We are both fine and happy. Doc got a sweet job on Fort Knox managing a dining facility there. He's making better bucks for doing less than he ever did in Florida! Who'd imagine that! Cost of living here is very cheap, Electric, phone, satelite and internet combined are under a hundred a month! Well, rambled long enough...... Love you Johnny, miss you terribly and congrats on the festival!!!

John, it's been a long time. I actually stumbled on to you by linking over from Frank Grizanti's website. I was a Grizanti/Thom Rotella bandmate years ago, but it is even greater now to see John Mameli doing so well what you pursued all your life. I knew you were a golden gloves guy and always held up a high standard for yourself, so I just wanted to jump in and say congrats and good luck.
Living in south Fla on the other side of the state. Maybe we'll catch you at Hard Rock over here someday. Best of luck, MrG

Sweet John,
It was sooo great seeing you play minus the stress of the competion [last year!] You and Karen look wonderful and it was great to meet Neysa, too.
Had a great time at Linda and Jimmy's, a lot of laughs reminiscing and going through the yearbook! Not to mention the carrot cake... Well, I'll be there at U.B. to see the competition tonight. Have to catch you when you're in town!!!
I really love your CD!!! Have a safe trip home and we'll see you all in August at Artpark!
